Welcome to the Abington Fire Station / DPW Project

Help Create A Safer Abington for All of Us

Over the past 70 years, Abington has experienced tremendous residential and commercial growth and its needs for increased services have followed. At this time, the Town’s two fire stations and Department of Public Works (DPW) are in critical need of new facilities to serve its residents effectively.

This website is intended to be a resource for residents of Abington, MA to find information and resources regarding the planned Fire Station and Department of Public Works salt shed and vehicle storage building . Within the site, you will be able to find information about the project’s planning, development, financial details, and more. 

The project consists of a stand alone Fire Station and a Salt Shed and Vehicle Storage building for the DPW located at 225 Central Street.

The estimated cost of the new project is $38.5 million*.

*This is a schematic design estimate, the number will continue to be refined throughout the design process

What does this mean for me?

With new facilities, the AFD and DPW would be able to provide better, safer, and more efficient services for residents. Residents would experience a defined tax increase.

Where will the new buildings go?

The Fire Station and DPW would have co-located facilities at 225 Central Street where the DPW headquarters is currently located. Locating these new buildings next to the Abington Police Station would create an efficient campus of services.

When can I get involved?

The Abington Fire Station and DPW Building committee meets regularly and would like to hear from the public. Public hearings dates will be held and dates are pending. Questions can be sent via listed contact information.
